On Thursday, January 19th, 2023, I experienced one of the most challenging moments of my life. That morning, around 9:00 AM, I started feeling intense stomach pain just after arriving at school. I was staying in a new rental and didn’t know my neighbors, so I lay in bed helplessly for hours, enduring the pain.
Later that evening, a kind neighbor noticed my door was still locked and checked on me. I explained my situation, and he helped me get some medicine, but it didn’t bring much relief. Despite the pain, I didn’t give up on praying. I tuned into MCF Radio, a Christian station, and joined the prayer sessions at night, hoping for some comfort.
Alone in my room, I kept praying and reached out to my dad and brother in Kampala. My brother was away in Lira for a crusade but kept me in his prayers. Late that night, amidst the pain, I had a dream where I saw myself surrounded by people fervently praying for me. When I woke up, I felt a bit better.
The next day, my sister-in-law came to check on me. Although I was improving, she insisted on taking me for a medical check-up as my dad had instructed. The initial diagnosis was ulcers, but a closer examination and a scan revealed that I had appendicitis and needed surgery.
I was referred to St. Francis Hospital Nsambya. Fear gripped me as I was taken to the theater for the operation. However, seeing an elderly man with a heart condition, who still had hope despite his severe health issues, gave me the confidence to face my situation. His courage reminded me that my problem was not insurmountable.
On Saturday, January 21st, at midnight, I underwent a successful operation. Two days later, I was discharged from the hospital.
Through this ordeal, I never lost faith. I knew God was in control. Prayer, support from my family, and unwavering faith carried me through. I am grateful for the strength and healing that came from trusting in God’s plan.
